JOE BALDASSARRE: first tenor vocals, guitar, 12-string, banjo, harmonica, mandolin, bass.
Dr. Joe started his musical sojourn as a 4-year old in 1955 under his father’s tutelage. By 1963 he was
a regular on Cleveland television, the leader of a big band on a variety show, a rock band and a polka
combo of his own, and was a sought-after guitarist in the recording studio.
Joe, a doctor of music in classical guitar and music history, came to Boise to be a professor of music in
1975 at Boise State University. A versatile instrumentalist, he has performed in public on 52 different
instruments, and is musical director and lead guitarist in The Fabulous Chancellors.
RANDY STEWARD: 2nd tenor vocals, guitar: A real estate agent by trade, Randy began playing
drums in 3rd grade in 1957 and by 1960 he was performing in bands. Throughout his musical career,
Randy has performed in many different venues as a songwriter, vocalist, guitarist and drummer.
Besides having performed with many touring groups and back-up bands, Randy is also a gifted
songwriter. He lists James Taylor, Jim Croce and Jackson Brown as his song writing influences
and Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich as his drumming influences.
ROSS MILLER: baritone vocals, bass, guitar. Ross started playing guitar in 1964, influenced by
the folk and rock singers of the early 60’s. He performed as a guitarist and bassist through his college
years at Brigham Young and Boise State Universities, eventually writing over 300 songs and forming his
own country and rock groups, in the late 60’s and 70’s, including Forrest and Miller, Wedge, Class-x and
Trigger Happy.
In 1989, Ross reformed The Fabulous Chancellors, one
of Boise’s most successful and popular groups from the
60’s, for which he has provided the promotion and
marketing, and most of the songwriting. The Chancellors
still perform at special events today.
